The Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber’s annual State Legislative Luncheon, co-sponsored by the Rotary Club of Valdosta, will be held on Wed. Dec. 7 from noon-1:30 p.m. at the James H. Rainwater Conference Center.

The Chamber’s Government Affairs Council will present business issues for the upcoming State Legislative Session to the delegation. Sen. Tim Golden and Reps. Ellis Black, Amy Carter and Jason Shaw will then respond to the issues presented.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A leader of the Civil Rights Movement,  Rev. Fred L. Shuttelsworth passed away Wednesday morning after battling a long illness.

Shuttlesworth worked as a civil rights leader in Birmingham during the 1950's

Kemp picks Presidential Primary date

Atlanta – Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp announced today that the state will hold its presidential preference primary on Tuesday, March 6, 2012.

Secretary Kemp stated, "My decision to hold Georgia's presidential preference primary on March 6, 2012 protects the interests of Georgia voters. By holding our presidential primary election on March 6, 2012 we can ensure that the voices of Georgia voters are heard and are relevant in the presidential candidate nomination process."
