Valdosta man pleads guilty to stolen firearms charges

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB)- 30-year-old Robert Kier Jr. of Valdosta pled guilty October 23, 2012 to one count of possession of stolen firearms and one count of possession of stolen goods.

Kier also entered guilty pleas in October 2010 to stealing a Shearwater boat in Marion County, Florida which he later sold in Coffee County and burglarizing Echols County in October and November 2010 where he stole 23 weapons including rifles, shotguns, handguns and three Polaris all-terrain vehicles.

Kier also confessed to stealing a Ford truck in Madison County, Florida on Christmas Day in 2011 and that vehicle was recovered in Lowndes County.

Each of the counts carry a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and up to 3 years supervised release. Kiers' sentencing is scheduled for a later date by the court.

The case was investigated by the Echols, Lowndes and Coffee County Sheriff's Offices in Georgia and the Marion and Madison County Sheriff's Offices in Florida.
