Valdosta Superintendent forced to retire
News

VALDOSTA, GA- Valdosta School Superintendent Dr. Bill Cason will be forced to retire at the end of this school year.

Cason was on track to retire in 2016 but the Georgia General Assembly changed House bill 208.

The new law only allows previous retirees to be paid through 2013.

Cason said he wasn't ready to retire.

"Still feel like I'm capable to do the job that they need done but the legislature and their infinite wisdom decided that this was a good thing to do so this is the result of it," said Cason.

Cason says he'll miss being around the children the most, but he plans to spend his retirement snake hunting in his cabin in North Carolina.
