Man drowns in Echols County | News
ECHOLS COUNTY, GA- Divers recovered the body of a man who drowned last night in the Alapaha River in Echols County.
Sheriff's officials say 20-year-old Mario Morales was wading in the river with his family near the Mayday community.
He waded over a drop off and went under around 6:00PM.
His brother tried to rescue him by throwing out a raft but the sheriff says Morales couldn't swim.
The Lowndes County Dive team was called in and recovered the body about an hour later.
