VPD investigates mysterious shooting

VALDOSTA, GA- Valdosta police say the are trying to find out who shot 24-year-old Laci Curtis, but if he knows, he isn't saying.

VPD report that Curtis was shot as he sat in his vehicle last night in the 400 block of McDougal Street.

Here is a news release issued by the Valdosta Police Department on Monday-

On June 3, 2012 at approximately 2024 hours, the Valdosta Police Department responded to the intersection of McDougal Street and Lake Park Road in reference to a gunshot victim.

 Officers arrived and found Laci Curtis, African American male, 24 years of age, sitting in a car with a gunshot wound to his upper right chest. Two persons were assisting Curtis when officers arrived, but both stated that they did not know what happened.

 There was a minivan parked in front of the car Curtis was found in and it was later determined that Curtis had been shot while he was inside the van.

Curtis was taken to SGMC by EMS and his wound does not appear to be life threatening.

Detectives from the Valdosta Police Department and a Crime Scene Technician from the Valdosta-Lowndes County Crime Lab arrived on scene to investigate.

According to investigations, Curtis has been uncooperative and has given multiple stories about what happened. The incident is being investigated. No further information is available at this time.
