Big brother congratulates national champion sister | News

VALDOSTA, GA-  

Another former Lee County Trojan who had a great season was Valdosta State third baseman Sam Posey. 

The sister of San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey, made the last out in the Lady Blazers national championship win over UC San Diego Saturday.

She also hit the game winning homerun in the Blazers win over Augustana .

A victory that set VSU on course with four straight elimination game wins before their victory in the national title game.

Sam Posey says she is asked about older brother Buster just about everytime she does an interview.

Sam says the 2010 National League rookie of the year was one of those calling her Saturday night with congratulations.

Sam Posey said. "He called me yesterday and his first words were kind of like what's up. I was like nothing just being a champion. He just kind of laughed and I told him I stole his quote when I got interviewed after the game. I told them that its what you play for winning a national championship. He said it was ok that I stole it."

Samantha Posey played at Gulf Coast Community College before transferring to Valdosta State two years ago.
