Valdosta pushing public art initiative
VALDOSTA, GA- An unusual piece of art is now being showcased on the streets of Valdosta.
Nearly two hundred people came out to paint and construct this new artwork.
It's the first piece in an effort to increase public art in Valdosta.
The artwork is right beside the Turner Center for the Arts. The director there says it brings more life to the community.
"It just really enhances the quality of our lives when we see artwork anywhere," said Cheryl Oliver with the Turner Center for the Arts. "If you have it out in a public site where people can appreciate it and can enjoy it, that's the value of it. It does enhance our quality of life."
The artwork will be up for a few months and organizers are pushing for more public art displays around the city.
