VALDOSTA, GA-
A healthy Valdosta State baseball team is ready for the Gulf South Conference tournament this weekend in Rome.
The Blazers are the 5th seed in the eight team tournament.
VSU was in first place for much of the season but injuries to the pitching staff showed on the field in their final three conference series.
The good news is those pitchers are ready to go and the Blazers believe that give them a very good chance of winning a second conference title in three years.
Catcher Christian Glisson said. "Our ace Kevin Rogers he missed last weekend because he had a little problem on one of his fingers. But if we can get them back healthy. Get the bats back hot again I think we are going to be alright.
Head coach Greg Guilliams said. "So, we are hoping to get those guys back this week. If we get those guys back, I like our chances."
Valdosta State plays North Alabama on the final game of the first day at the Gulf South Conference tournament at 6:30 p.m. in Rome.
