VALDOSTA, GA-

Number one ranked Valdosta State begins their bid for a fourth straight Gulf South Conference softball tournament Friday in Southaven Mississippi.

No other team has won 4 straight conference titles and the Lady Blazers want to be the first.

The top seeded Lady Blazers open against 8th seed West Georgia.

The Lady Blazers enter their conference tournament having won all but one of their regular season conference games.

Their one conference loss was in their final regular season series that ended a Gulf South record 36 game winning streak.

The end of the streak ends a poss bile distraction in the playoffs but head coach Thomas Macera hates to lose any game.

Head coach Thomas Macera said.  "We always try to go out and win every game we can. It as unfortunate we lost a one nothing game. Somebody may say maybe the monkey is off our back. We just don't want to lose any games honestly."

The Lady Blazers will play West Georgia at 12:00 p.m. Friday and if they win play the West Alabama/Delta State winner at 2:30 p.m..

The GSC softball tournament is in Southaven, Mississippi.
