WGTC students took a field trip to Callaway Gardens

VALDOSTA, GA – The Wiregrass Georgia Technical College Horticulture Department took a trip to Callaway Gardens and learned the history of the horticultural paradise.

“Fieldtrips like this are so important to show students not only the vast array of careers available to horticulture graduates, but also to show the possibilities to students,” said Kerry Watts, instructor.

Free Mulch for City Residents

Free Mulch for City Residents

VALDOSTA, GA -  The Public Works Department is offering free mulch to city residents at the compost site at 3365 Val Tech Rd.

City residents can pick up the mulch, Monday - Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., and 1 p.m. - 3 p.m., however residents responsible for loading and transporting away their own mulch.

Mulch, made of biodegradable tree and yard waste, can improve garden soil in a variety of ways and is useful in beautification projects.
