SGMC welcomes new leadership

VALDOSTA, GA - News release from South Georgia Medical College

Please join us in congratulating Thomas Simpson in being named the new Director of Patient Relations for South Georgia Medical Center.

Simpson has been a part of the SGMC family since August 2006 and has made a great impact within the organization.

For the past several years Simpson played a vital role in keeping the hospital informed about family and patient concerns and worked diligently as a patient representative serving as a liaison between patients, families and the healthcare system.

His compassion for patients and their families are always evident, and he believes that “hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard”.

In his new role as director, Simpson will be responsible for overseeing patient representatives, pastoral care, as well as volunteer services.

Simpson looks forward to continuing the department’s efforts to enhance customer service and patient satisfaction, increase the volunteer presence throughout the hospital and strengthen the impact pastoral care has on patients and hospital employees.

Simpson is a proud graduate of Valdosta State University where he earned his undergraduate degree in speech communications and master’s degree in public administration.

Thomas Simpson and his wife Carmen have two daughters, Emmy and Ava.

Thomas may be reached by email at thomas.simpson@sgmc.org or by phone at (229) 259-4412.
