VSU department of music to host faculty recitals

VALDOSTA, GA – News release from Valdosta State University

Valdosta State University’s Department of Music will host joint faculty recitals at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30. The performances are free of charge and open to the public. 

During his portion of the recital, pianist David Springfield will play “Solace” by Scott Joplin and “Not To Be,” an original composition.

ABAC performing arts series kicks off second season

Five events ranging from the sensational sounds of a symphony orchestra to the magnificent soloists in a classic opera headline the second season of the performing arts series at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.

Titled “ABAC Presents”, the series begins with the performance of the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra with cello soloist Steven Taylor on Sept. 16 at 3 p.m. at the Tift County High School Performing Arts Center.

Teens and parents learn about STD prevention

VALDOSTA, GA – News release from Brooks County Schools

Teens and Parents were introduced to various scenarios during the South Health District STD/HIV Education Awareness Seminar held on August 25, 2012 at 1 pm. 

MPH Officer of Adolescent Health, Percy Chastang spoke with teens about STD and HIV/AIDS prevention and gave them an in depth insight into the importance of being aware of STD’s and HIV/AIDS. 

The seminar was held at Union Cathedral Church in Valdosta where Bishop Wade S. McCrae is senior pastor.
