The Teaching and Learning Department of Valdosta City Schools invites parents and community members to learn more about Common Core Georgia Performance Standards (CCGPS) with Karen Bailey, national presenter. 

Beginning this school year, educators across Georgia began teaching the CCGPS in mathematics, English language arts, as well as literacy in science, social studies and technical subjects. 

SGC announces 2012 Summer Semester Dean’s List

A total of 23 South Georgia College students have earned a spot on the 2012 Summer Semester Dean’s List, according to an announcement by Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Carl B. McDonald.

In addition, 40 students earned a spot on the Dean’s List for Part-Time Students.

Students on the Dean’s List attained a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, carried at least 12 hours of academic work, and have satisfied all Learning Support requirements.

ABAC performing arts series kicks off second season

Five events ranging from the sensational sounds of a symphony orchestra to the magnificent soloists in a classic opera headline the second season of the performing arts series at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.

Titled “ABAC Presents”, the series begins with the performance of the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra with cello soloist Steven Taylor on Sept. 16 at 3 p.m. at the Tift County High School Performing Arts Center.
