Valdosta, GA - News release from Wiregrass Georgia Technical College
Do you have a child that loves watching crime scene shows, one who is creative and loves to work on computers, or a child that is interested in giving back to the community through volunteering and loves to be outdoors?
If so, Wiregrass might just have a camp for them. This summer Wiregrass Georgia Technical College is offering several camps for kids entering 3rd grade up to seniors.
The CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) Kid’s Camp has been created in an effort to give area students a chance to experience a new kind of summer camp!
With new equipment and state-of-the-art techniques the Criminal Justice Department at Wiregrass is hosting this camp to give students a peak in the world of forensics.
Students will learn how to gather evidence for scientific analysis in a crime laboratory. All supplies and materials needed are included in the registration fee. Targeted participants are grades 3-12 (limit 30 students).
The camp will be held June 4, 5, and 6 on the Valdosta Campus from 8am to noon. The registration fee is 20 dollars and includes all materials, a t-shirt, and a pizza party on the last day.

The first, held June 11 through 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., is designed for rising 9th-12th grade high school students.
The second session July 9 through 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. is designed for rising 6th – 8th grade middle school students.
Each camp will include topics like: state-of-the-art graphics software, digital printing, bindery and finishing techniques, graphic design principles and applications.
The camp offers many activities and field trips to printing companies such as U. S. Press, Georgia PrintCo, and The Valdosta Daily Times.
Campers will have the opportunity to create their own designs and see them through the design stages to the finished printed product.
Camp is limited to 15 participants and registration is 99 dollars and includes lunch, transportation for the field trips, and a t-shirt. For more information, contact Ray Noll at 229-293-6377, ext. 3034, or email ray.noll@wiregrass.edu.
The BELAY ACADEMY (Becoming Exceptional Leaders and Youth Volunteers) week-long day camp focuses on building leadership skills through team building exercises on our outdoor ROPES/Challenge course.
Participants will foster a sense of service to our community through volunteer efforts in partnership with the Greater Valdosta United Way.
An example day consists of morning activities on the Challenge Course, Lunch ‘n’ Network, and an afternoon focused on leadership, community projects, and individual enrichment.
The camp targets rising 6th through 9th graders with activities geared towards 11 to 14 year olds.
Scholarships may be available. BELAY will be held June 18-22 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday through Thursday and until noon on Friday.
