Valdosta garden club donates trees to WGTC | Events
VALDOSTA, GA – News release from Wiregrass Georgia Technical College
In February the Valdosta Tree Commission sold Ginkgo trees at wholesale prices to encourage Lowndes County residents to plant trees.
Wiregrass Georgia Technical College’s Horticulture Department served as the pick-up site for those who ordered trees.
The Garden Club, which manages the Crescent, purchased and donated 10 of the trees to Wiregrass Georgia Tech for campus beautification.
Those trees were recently planted by the students in the Horticulture Program.
“The horticulture students are so proud to be a part of this tree planting.
These 10 trees will be around for many, many years and in the future these students will be able to come back and see the trees that they planted on this campus in 2012.
The Valdosta Tree Commission had a great idea in providing the trees at a low price and the Garden Club was so generous to donate 10 trees to Wiregrass Georgia Tech.
It was really a great community effort. Everyone involved should be proud,” stated Kerry Watts Horticulture Program Coordinator for Wiregrass Georgia Technical College.
