VALDOSTA, GA – The Valdosta Police Department arrived at the Family Dollar located at 512 E. Central Ave Thursday, December 15 due to an armed robbery.

Family Dollar, 512 East Central Avenue

               #3 Michael Brown

On December 15, 2011 at approximately 1830 hours, the Valdosta Police Department responded to the Family Dollar at 512 E. Central Avenue in reference to an armed robbery.

Officers arrived and were told by employees, James Lewis and Michael Brown, that an African American male, wearing all black with his head and face covered, entered the store with a handgun and ordered them to open the cash registers.

Once the registers were open the offender grabbed the money and left the store. Officers searched the area, but the offender was not located.

There were customers inside the store at the time of the incident, but no one was injured. Detectives from the Valdosta Police Department responded to investigate.
