The South Georgia Medical Center Foundation will host a check presentation to receive a generous charitable donation from Kohl’s Department Stores on Friday, February 17 at 9:00 a.m.

The contribution is a part of the Kohl’s Cares® program.  SGMC will use the funds provided by Kohl’s to continue funding for children’s health and wellness programs in the South Georgia region.

Valdosta to celebrate first reconstruction home project

VALDOSTA, GA – News release from the City of Valdosta

The City of Valdosta will celebrate the first reconstruction home project of 2012 at a ribbon cutting ceremony, at 603 W. Gordon Street, on Feb. 7, at 3 p.m. 

The home, located in one of the city’s Designated Revitalization Areas, was reconstructed in partnership with the Valdosta-Lowndes County Habitat for Humanity utilizing Community Development Block Grant funds. 

The project is one way the city plans to eliminate substandard housing in the city limits by the year 2020.

The restaurant is across the street from the old Coca-Cola plant

Jeremiah Horne is the owner of the Valdosta Drive-thru Maryland Fried Chicken and he also has locations in Cairo, Ga and Quincy Fl.

The Valdosta Drive-thru Maryland’s has gizzards, liver, grouper, fried chicken and fresh hand breaded butterfly shrimp, okra, french fries, sodas, lemonade and sweet tea.

22 Brooks Co. High seniors are honor graduates

Twenty two Brooks County High School graduating seniors are honor graduates.

High school registrar and counselor, Whitney T. Monetti said that the number of honor graduates has been on the rise for the last four years.

There are a total of 122 graduating seniors set to receive their high school diplomas this spring.
