Valdosta, GA – News release from South Georgia Medical Center
SGMC, Kohl’s Department Store, and the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department will be hosting Bike Smart! - a bike safety and bike rodeo program.
The event will be held Saturday, May 19th from 8:30am-10:30am in SGMC’s Surgery Center parking lot. This event is for children ages 5-14.
Children will receive hands-on instruction in bike safety and learn how to wear a bike helmet properly.
Education will also be provided on bike laws and street safety. Children that participate will receive a fitted bike helmet, water bottle, t-shirt, and a chance to win a bike. To register or for more information, call 229.333.1074.
Sponsored by Kohl’s department stores nationwide, the Kohl’s Cares program affords shoppers in each of its stores the opportunity to purchase lovable, huggable plush toys and books for $5.00 each.
The profit from these sales goes to benefit local hospital partners like South Georgia Medical Center. Funding for Bike Smart! comes from the sale of those items.
“We are excited to partner with Kohl’s and the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department to host this wonderful event for the children in our Community”, states Marie Sims, SGMC Community Health Promotions Coordinator.
