Two South GA studets named to Region STAR Students | Community Spirit

This year 21 Region STAR Students from across the state will compete for the honor of being named the 2012 State PAGE STAR Student. Ten of these finalists scored 2400 on one administration of the SAT test.
The finalists have each selected a STAR Teacher who they credit as being the teacher who most nurtured, inspired and challenged them during their K-12 academic career.
Georgia’s State PAGE STAR Student and his or her State PAGE STAR Teacher will be announced during the 2012 State PAGE STAR Banquet at approximately 9:00 p.m. on Monday, April 23, 2012, at the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Perimeter at Ravinia, located at 4355 Ashford Dunwoody Road, Atlanta, Ga., 30346, phone: (770) 395-7700. The evening begins with a reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:00 p.m.
Now in its 54th year and regarded as Georgia’s premier high school student/teacher recognition, the State PAGE (Professional Association of Georgia Educators) STAR (Student Teacher Achievement Recognition) program has honored more
than 23,000 students and their teachers. The statewide program is coordinated and sponsored by the PAGE Foundation. Other major sponsors are AT&T Georgia, Operation Goodwill Atlanta Ford Motor Company Fund, Frances Wood Wilson Foundation, Inc., Georgia Chamber of Commerce, Georgia Department of Education, Mozelle Christian Endowment, Professional Association of Georgia Educators and The Coca-Cola Company.
PAGE STAR is one of several programs of academic excellence sponsored by the PAGE Foundation. Other academic competitions include the PAGE Georgia Academic Decathlon (GAD) and the PAGE Academic Bowl for Middle Grades.
Through its sponsorship of Future Educators Association of Georgia (FEA Georgia), Student Professional Association of Georgia Educators (SPAGE), PAGE Foundation Scholarships and professional learning, the PAGE Foundation works to recruit capable people to the teaching profession and helps them achieve their career goals.
