Valdosta Police Dept. offers reward for beauty store killer

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB)- The Valdosta Police Department is putting up a $2,500 reward to help catch the killer of a beauty store employee.

The Police Chief says they are working several leads in the Friday night shooting death of 62-year-old Kanwaljit Spai, but they haven't made any arrests.

Investigators say one or two people robbed Spai as he closed up Ashley Beauty Store.

We now know police found video poker machines in the back of the store.

Scuba Olympics coming to Albany

ALBANY, GA (WALB)- Scuba divers are gearing up this weekend for an intense competition, which also helps out a noble cause right here in Albany.

The Dive Shop is holding their second annual Scuba Olympics this Saturday, for experienced and uncertified divers at YMCA's Outdoor Park on Gillionville Road.

A race with a ping pong ball on a spoon, a three legged race, or simply blowing up a balloon might all seem like easy tasks.

But 10 or 12 feet underwater, it might get a little more difficult.

Facebook user arrested for threatening Lowndes Co. Sheriff

THOMAS COUNTY, GA (WALB)- A Thomas County man is out of jail tonight after he was arrested for making death threats against Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine.

22-year-old Lamar Reddick is charged with terroristic threats after he posted messages on his Facebook page threatening to kill Sheriff Chris Prine with an AR-15 and 15,000 rounds of bullets.

Lowndes Co. files lawsuit against solid waste company

LOWNDES COUNTY, GA (WALB)- Lowndes County leaders are going to court to try to stop a sanitation company from picking up trash for some county residents.

County leaders say Deep South Sanitation is in violation of a new ordinance that only allows Advanced Disposal to contract with county residents.

And if the cease-and-desist order is successful, the owner of Deep South Sanitation worries he'll go out of business.

Big-money lottery games roll over for big jackpots

ALBANY, GA (WALB)- Mega Millions has rolled over numerous times to create an estimated jackpot of $170 million for tonight's drawing. It is also drawn on Fridays.

Powerball, which is drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays, has an estimated jackpot of about $350 million.
